Focal Point started in our kitchen. A stay-at-home mom raising the kids, I took on our kitchen renovation project. The cabinet person that I was working with told me that I had some natural talents, and should go to NKBA to develop my skills. I enjoyed the in's and out's of our project so much, I decided that was the thing to do.

I worked for a firm for about a year, and then set out to start my own business. The idea moved from our kitchen to the trunk of the family car, my husband Kevin roaming the peninsula looking for contractors who could use my services. Everything started as word-of-mouth, as is much of the case today. The trunk of the car soon became a studio office, and as our customers had parties and invited friends over, and those friends called us to "do that" in their kitchens, soon we were hanging our shingle on our showroom location in San Mateo.

Kevin & I steadily grew the business. . Our customers have become friends, and our reputation with contractors and clients alike is something we take a lot of pride in.
